Cnac Financing - DECEPTIVE PRACTICES
I worked for a temporary agency and I was between assignments. Two days prior to my payment being due, I called to question my options, in the event I could not make a payment.
I did have the payment, but made an inquiry. I was told I would have to call back an sppeak to a Manager. I wanted to make the payment, while I was on the phone with the finance company and was told to call back because the computers were running slow. I called back two days later, when the payment was due, and was told my account was on a BLOCK and that I could not make a payment.
I had to come in and speak with a Manager. I went in the next day and spoke with Jennifer. I felt like I was being interrogated, They asked for my proof of insurance, which was valid and for they key so they could do a "wellness check" on the vehicle. I questioned the practice, and was told they periodically do this.
I gave them my key. About 10 minutes later I was told that I was not getting my vehicle back, because I breeched the contract by not having a job. They refused to give me my car back. I pleaded with them to give me the car stating I would have a job by the end of business the next day.
I was told if I could provide proof of employment, I could have the vehicle returned. I jumped through hoops to get this information, to no avail. I have an acceptance letter as and UBER driver and was told that's not what the vehicles are approved for. I believe this is a deceptive business practice.
They have no idea about my finances and if I have other means of making my payment. They never asked, nor did they care. I feel my consumer rights were violated. I made the mistake of trying to be proactive, and I was penalized.
I am positive that there are many other people driving these vehicles which do not have jobs. I was never late on a payment, ever. Then it was thrown in my face that I was a day late for this payment, therefore I breached the contract that way. Despite the fact I called three times and they would not take my payment.
I cannot let this go! My rights were totally violated and I will contact a lawyer.
